Client Services
One on One Services
I frequently utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, feminist psychology, and multicultural psychology to guide my therapy work with clients. Which approach we use in therapy will depend on what brings you to therapy, your treatment goals, your interpersonal style, and what research says is the best evidence-based technique for your specific concerns.
I am a generalist and have experience working with clients who have a wide array of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, suicidality, self-injurious behavior, relationship difficulties and social skills deficits, study skills, identity, gender (including gender questioning, exploration, and gender transition), sexuality, body image and self-esteem.
In addition, I provide supervision and training. I have provided over thirty presentations on topics such as cultural humility, microaggressions, minority stress, and gender and sexuality (LGBQ+ mental health, transgender mental health, and the provision of affirming medical and mental health care to LGBTQ+ clients). I have also provided individual supervision to doctoral students and interns, and am a qualified supervisor for mental health counselors.
Mental Health Evaluations for Medical Transition
I follow WPATH SoC8 guidelines when conducting psychosocial evaluations. I strive to conduct my evaluations from a place of affirmation rather than gatekeeping. I am here top help facilitate your access to care by gathering information and providing you with a referral letter that will help communicate your wants and needs regarding your medical transition to your medical provider. In these appointments my goal is to learn more about your gender identity, gender expression, gender history, and gender goals. I also gather information about your mental health history and can help you make a plan for managing any co-occurring mental health symptoms. If you are in need of resources or information about options, risks, and/or benefits, I can also provide this. I do not charge additional fees for letter writing. Typically these appointments can be completed in one meeting/an hour, however in some circumstances it may take longer.
Group Services - DBT Skills Groups
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was originally developed to be a treatment protocol for people experiencing chronic suicidality and symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder; however, research has has found DBT skills training to be effective for people experiencing a variety of distress and coping issues. These Purposeful Living groups are available to people with various clinical issues; there are no diagnostic requirements for participation. DBT provides four categories of skills to attend to our needs more effectively: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. Find out more and inquire about group here.
Workshops
I offer workshops to help loved ones of trans people learn how to me more affirming. Because social support and having one’s identity affirmed has been found to help decrease mental health symptoms (such as depression, anxiety, and suicidality), receiving love and support from community as well as loved ones is crucial in transgender well-being. In these workshops I cover basic terminology to help you become more comfortable speaking about gender, help you better understand your transgender loved one and their experience, teach you skills for affirming your loved one’s gender identity, and facilitate you connecting with other caregivers and loved ones who are on a similar journey to you. My hope is that you will leave my workshops with a better understanding of your loved one, feel more equipped to support and affirm all gender diverse people, and supply you with resources to continue your learning journey beyond the workshop. Please see the events page to learn more about upcoming workshops.

When providing trainings and workshops, I aim to be engaging and humorous. I am understanding that attendees have varying levels of knowledge and comfort with diversity-related topics. As such, I work hard to create a supportive atmosphere and a space where attendees can ask questions. I incorporate peer-reviewed research into my presentations, as well as anecdotal information to support and supplement the research.
I have provided over thirty presentations and workshops in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, behavioral health centers, university counseling centers, university police departments and student health centers, Veteran’s Affairs, non-profits, community organizations, and student organizations.
